Our Researchers

Advances in medicine and science are the result of new ideas and approaches developed through research. Academic medical centers such as UC Davis Health, UCSF Health, UCLA Health, UC Irvine Health and UC San Diego Health are on the front lines of exploring new experimental drugs and treatments.

Our five cancer centers hold the highest designation possible from the National Cancer Institute. Each UC comprehensive cancer center conducts extensive scientific research and translates promising results into potential new treatments. Through the UC Cancer Consortium, these individual efforts are accelerated for greater impact.

Researchers at the University of California’s medical centers are some of the smartest, most innovative researchers in the world. Our faculty have won nearly every leading prize in the health sciences, from Nobel Prizes to National Medals of Science. Each of our medical centers are ranked among the best hospitals in California and some of the most prestigious in the nation.

Clinical trials may offer participants early access to treatments that will one day re-define the standard of care. Each year, we enroll participants in hundreds of clinical trials of promising investigational drugs, treatments and devices. At the core of UC Health is a deep culture of working together. Our scientists regularly reach across disciplines, and beyond the borders of their respective medical center to advance medical knowledge and formulate new strategies for treating disease.
